Ft. Lauderdale Dentist Says, “Use Your Dental Benefits NOW!”

Posted: November 21, 2016

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And it’s also time to use your dental benefits. As the end of the year approaches, most dental insurance benefits are set to expire. And because benefits do not carry over to the next year, unused benefits are of no value. With this in mind, Ft. Lauderdale dentist Dr. Gary Kodish and his team encourage you to schedule dental checkups and other necessary dental care for you and your family now.

Use ‘Em or Lose ‘Em

It’s a familiar saying and one that definitely applies to dental insurance benefits. Almost all dental insurance plans—even those that are tied to a flex spending account—expire at the close of a calendar year. You are required to pay a premium for your dental insurance coverage, so it is in your best dental and financial interest to use all of the benefits associated with your plan.

Why Do Dental Insurance Benefits Expire?

Dentistry is all about prevention. If Ft. Lauderdale dentist Dr. Kodish can help prevent dental problems, then you are well on your way to having a smile that is healthy and beautiful. He cannot, however, do the whole job of preventing problems on his own. He needs you to schedule regular dental checkups. Because benefits expire, dental insurance subscribers are demonstrably more inclined to see the dentist for cleanings and exams.

At these biannual appointments, one of our dental hygienists will clean your teeth, floss between teeth to remove plaque and scrape away bits of tartar (hardened plaque). These cleanings go a long toward helping you enjoy dental and oral wellness. Tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental illness can often be prevented simply by attending your regularly scheduled checkups.

Restorative Care, Too

Many dental insurance plans also cover a number of restorative dental procedures in addition to dental checkups. For example, if Ft. Lauderdale dentist Dr. Kodish finds a cavity, then your plan may partially or fully cover the cost of a tooth-colored filling. Other restorative services that are often covered include:

  • Dental Crowns
  • Root Canal Therapy
  • Partials and Dentures
  • Crown and Bridge
  • Dental Implants

Dental Insurance Basics

As with most insurance policies, your dental plan likely has a deductible and a coinsurance payment. The Kodish Group accepts most dental PPO insurance. We’ll be happy to help you understand the details of your plan and explain coverage for a particular procedure.
